Problem acessing web page

Hi

SBS 2008 std/ Windows 2008.

A web page domain.tld/payment-page/ on our site (hosted externally) is not accessible from within the domain. However main site domain.tld is accessible. If we try to access domain.tld/payment-page/ from a client pc we get;

Uh-oh, something went wrong! Error Code: 404

If we try to access domain.tld/payment-page/  from SBS server we get;

HTTP Error 404.0 - Not Found
The resource you are looking for has been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

If we access domain.tld/payment-page/ from an outside pc connected to a different ISP then it is accessed fine.

What is wrong here and how can I fix it?

Thanks

Hi

I can't seem to ping or tracert the domain from within the domain but can do so from outside.

Inside:

C:\Users\serveradmin>ping domain.tld
Ping request could not find host domain.tld. Please check the name and try again.

C:\Users\serveradmin>tracert domain.tld
Unable to resolve target system name domain.tld.

Outside:

C:\Users\Administrator>ping domain.tld

Pinging domain.tld [xx.xxx.xxx.xxx] with 32 bytes of data:

What may be blocking it from inside domain?

Does your internal domain is the same as the external's one ?

Do a test, start nslookup, type server 8.8.8.8 and type the webpage domain. Check the ip it give.

Do a similar test from a computer in the lan, just do a nslookup webpage domain and validate the answer IP it give

Hi Yahya,

Agree with Philippe.

If the internal domain is the same as the external one, internal DNS server would not query external DNS server for the answer. It would only look for the record in local forward lookup zone. And if the record doesn't exist, the query would fail.

In that case, we could add a DNS host record manually.

Best Regards,

Leo
