Problem Sharing files on Windows 2003 R2 as file server
We recently migrated our File server from a Win2K server to a Windows2003R2. It looked like everything was working ok until the users started accessing it Monday morning. Everyone's PC's started hanging. Looking at the Win2K3 Server in Computer Management under Shared folders > Sessions, a couple of users had session counts of 300-3000 even though they actually had only one or two files open (they kept increasing every time the page was refreshed). It seems these was Vista workstations that had the real high counts although XP PC's were also suffering. Does anyone know of an issue causing such a thing.Another note, when trying to view files (in Windows Explorer) right on the server many folders weren't be shown. Only after restarting the server would the folder's re-appear and people PC start behaving again. Shortly thereafter, 10 minutes or so the whole thing would start up again. We ended up moving the files back to the original server until we can figure out what happened. Thanks in advance!!
