Printing from a Windows 2008 Domain Controller
I have a Windows 2008 server that had print services installed. After promoting it to a domain controller I now can't print from a Windows XP client. Windows 7 clients logged in as a normal user prints fine. A Windows 2003 Server prints fine if logged in as a domain admin and so does an XP client. I've checked security on the spool directory and the print and prnproc shares and added authenticated users then even tried everyone and it still did not work. What other security settings are there? It fails and puts a 6161 entry in the event viewer and says that access is denied. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello try giving Full control to C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\ directoryIf that does not work,Also have look at the Default Domain Policy and the Default Domain Controller Policy for this settings:Computer Configuration,Policies,Administrative Settings,Printers, Allow Print Spooler to accept clent connectionsIsaac Oben MCITP:EA, MCSE

I had already changed the spool permissions to everyone full. I did enable the group policy settings to allow client connections but that didn't work either. Thanks for the response. Any other ideas?

You may have a corrupt print spooler. Suggestion is to download and run Cleanspl.exe from microsoft. Here is the download linkhttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=9D467A69-57FF-4AE7-96EE-B18C4790CFFD&displaylang=enHope this helps,I found some guide on using the cleanspl utility herehttp://www.windowsreference.com/windows-xp/how-to-clean-print-spooler-in-windows-xp2003/Isaac Oben MCITP:EA, MCSE
