Preparing Network Connections Hanging
Hi All I've reposyted this as I have a new problem. I recently did an upgrade of my primary Windows 2000 Domain Controller to Windows Server 2003 Standard R2. My DC is also the Terminal Server/Licensing Server and also DNS, DHCP, WINS. Everything seemed to go straight forward with upgrade. I now only have the other 2K DC to upgrade. My problem is the server hangs on the 'Preparing Network connections for around 5-8 mins before eventually getting to the logon screen after a reboot. I have tried the following: I have ran IPCONFIG /ALL and no conflict exists No DNS GPOs configured and DNS working correctly Ran MSCONFIG and disabled all non-microsoft services, still hangs Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi, Thanks for posting here. Have you tried to boot in safe mode and disconnect cable connection when boot up on this server and will this issue persist ? In addition with C Amador please also post the full exported unedited ipconfig /all result here for further investigation. And here are the links which discussed some mentions for how to troubleshoot slowly boot up issue on domain controller for you reference: So you have a slow logon…? http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/09/24/so-you-have-a-slow-logon-part-1.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/askds/archive/2009/09/24/so-you-have-a-slow-logon-part-2.aspx Troubleshooting Server Hangs http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2007/09/25/troubleshooting-server-hangs-part-one.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/05/06/troubleshooting-server-hangs-part-two.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/05/09/troubleshooting-server-hangs-part-three.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/askperf/archive/2008/05/16/troubleshooting-server-hangs-part-four.aspx Thanks. HI I have built a new DC (Windows Server 2003 Standard) and moved DHCP/WINS/DNS and made it a GC, It boots up fast, Last night i transfered FMSO toles to this server and this one now hangs on 'Preparing Network Connections' so it surely has to be somthing to do with one of the FMSO roles? Any ideas?
