Powershell has stopped working

I have windows 7  64 bit system and I performed a windows update 4 days ago.   Since the upgrade, I keep getting the annoying little "powershell has stopped working" pop up every 10 seconds or so.   Nothing else seems to be wrong with my computer.  Below I've printed the problem details, I tried to use the check on line function of the pop up but it didn't seem to work.

I have a restore point back on 7/13/15.  I haven't tried it and I'm not sure if it will help any way.

Any thoughts on how to repair my system?

Hi Tom,

did you check if all Windows Updates went well? Sometimes a failed update can cause other Microsoft parts / programs / etc. to crash (PowerShell is a 'good' example of this).

Did you also try to run PowerShell as Administrator? I am wondering if it works then.

Hi,

This forum is for PowerShell usage, not OS maintenance.

I recommend asking your question here (Participate -> Ask a Question):

Good luck.

Try restore point. I have tried to google that and it's not so rare issue, unfortunately nobody was able to fix that. There are general recommendations like sfc /scannow and running antimalware scan, but it looks that it does not solve your issue. If restore point does not help, I would recommend contacting MS support.

You may need to do a repair on your system:

InnermostExceptionType:         System.AccessViolationException
OutermostExceptionType:                 System.AccessViolationException
