Physical Disk numbering
Hello Is it possible to control the mapping netween LUN number and PhysicalDisk number in Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise? I create five LUNs on shared torage, present these LUNs to two servers as LUNs from 10 to 14. I need to have LUN 10 on both servers
to be recognized as Disk 1, LUN 11 to be Disk 2, etc. Now each server has its own disk order - LUN 10 is Disk 2 on server1 and Disk4 on server2 which is not acceptable for software that will run ontop.

Have you tried unpresenting the LUN to both servers then readding them to one server at a time? I just checked several 2003E and 2008E along with 2008 R2 E mixture of clustered servers and they all have the same disk numbering and shared LUNs. I am not
too sure how you managed to get mixed disk numbering on a shared volume

Hi,
The disk order should be decided when we add LUNS to servers, thus is it available to re-arrange them as A13x mentioned?Shaon Shan |TechNet Subscriber Support in forum |If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com
