Permissions Issue
I'm having an issue renaming a file in the C:\windows\web\printing\images folder on a Windows 2008 standard server. I'm getting a "you need permission to perform this action" error despite the fact that im logged in as an administrator. this server is a domain controller but has the windows printing role enabled. i've logged in with an account that is a member of Domain Admins and with the actual domain administrator account also but still cannot rename the file. i've tried taking ownership of the folder and files but still cannot rename a file within the folder. anyone seen this before?paddy ryan

Tried that. Doesn't work. returns an "access denied" message. Also tried renaming the file after running Windows Explorer as an administrator. That doesn't work either. any other suggestions?paddy ryan

What are the permissions on the file in question? Taking ownership does not automatically confer permissions.Paul Adare

Strange. I took ownership with an administrator account, re set the permissions to full control for that admin account and it works fine now. problem solved. thanks to all who helped.paddy ryan
