could someone share experience working with DA designer, we have a new SCOM 2012 R2 UR7 environment, MS and SQL servers have enough resources (8 cores 2.6, 16GB) , disk's IOPS in good state. If I create component, designer automatically starts to iterate all objects, designer windows freezes for more than 20 minutes, shows around 17000 objects, yes I know that I can filter objects by class and it is working, but what about iterating all objects, is it normal to take > 20 minutes? 

It can be desperately slow dependent on many things such as SQL Server I\O and number of objects - I always create the Distributed Applications in Visual Studio. It is a steep learning curve (and you won't be able to open the resultant DA in the designer) but it is much more efficient.
