PC cant join domain, DNS does not exist

Note: This information is intended for a network administrator.  If you are not your network's administrator, notify the administrator that you received this information, which has been recorded in the file C:\WINDOWS\debug\dcdiag.txt.

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate an Active Directory Domain Controller (AD DC) for domain "rirs.com":

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.rirs.com

Common causes of this error include the following:

- The DNS SRV records required to locate a AD DC for the domain are not registered in DNS. These records are registered with a DNS server automatically when a AD DC is added to a domain. They are updated by the AD DC at set intervals. This computer is configured to use DNS servers with the following IP addresses:

10.10.10.10
217.117.15.106
217.117.0.38

- One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone:

rirs.com
com
. (the root zone)

How can i resolve this?

Note: 10.10.10.10. is my local dns server

Looks like you may have public DNS addresses also on the client, remove them and reboot the client machine.

Hi,

According to your description, my understanding is that PC failed to join domain with error DNS does not exist.

Computers joining an Active Directory domain must satisfy the following three DNS requirements:
1. The computer must be configured with the IP address of a preferred DNS server.
2. The _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DNSDomainNameservice (SRV) resource record must exist in DNS.
3. The address (A) resource record for the DNS name of the domain controllers specified in the data field of the _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.DNSDomainName SRV resource record must exist in DNS.

Firstly, type ipconfig /all on the client PC and make sure that IP address of DNS server (which has DC related SRV and A records are exited in its zone) is configured as Preferred DNS server.

If the problem persists, please post the result of ipconfig /all here, and also provide a simplify description, such as the domain name system, main DNS servers.

Best Regards,
Eve Wang
