Hi,
For the context i use SCVMM 2008 RTM and HyperV host (2008 std server core).
I would knowsome information on the P2V process and virtual network.
What is the best practice towards online P2V and Virtual Network ? In fact i have a server A (win 2003)which i want to P2V onlinebut server A will remain online after the process. In the P2V process i can tell that the created Virtual Machine of server Acould use a virtual network which will be a external virtual network for example.
In the job process created i see that boot the virtual machine is part of the process.
Thus if the virtual machine is assigned to an external switch server A and the virtual machine created from server A will be able to "see" each other ? Is this not a problem regarding @MAC /@IP /Name conflict ? In this case it is safer to leave the virtual machine with "no connection" ?
Thanks in advance.
Regards

From my experience it is always safer to start your VM with "no connection", You can P2V server A with VM connected to external switch but that will cause many problems due to name conflict and IP..etc
Some servers the best practice for P2V is to be offline like DCs to avoid USN Rollback
