Optons for Synchronizing Multiple Computers to Folders on 2008 R2 Server
Hello, Agree with Roman. You can setup DFS on your Server 2008 R2 system to achieve this. I was wondering what my options are for synchronizing multiple computers to folders on a Windows 2008 R2 Server. For instance, the CEO has four computers, one onsite, the rest offsite, and would like all computers to have folders which sychronize to the office server. The CEO likes the way Exchange works, and wants data folders to work the same. For instance, if you delete a file, it deletes it on all, rename, edit, etc. We do have VPN, although it would be great if there was a server add-on which would allow secure direct access provided the firewall was open for particular ports. I appreciate any input. Michael

You should read about DFS. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distributed_File_System_%28Microsoft%29

I could be wrong, but isn't DFS for making multiple servers appear as one? I'm looking for something that works more like "Exchange for files" - one Windows 2008 R2 server is the main reponsitory, and a file change made at one client computer, updates the server, and then updates the files cached on all the other client computers for that user (user has multiple computers - for example office desktop, laptop, home computer, etc.).
