On 64bit server, added 32bit drivers, can't add printer with drivers
Ok, I have found a solution to an earlier problem, where I needed to add a 32bit printer driver on a 64bit server, where there was no 64bit driver to begin with. From a 32bit client I browse to the print server "printer and faxes" folder, and go to Server Properties>Drivers Tab, and add a driver, browsing to the folder with the 32bit driver. That worked. I go to Print Management>Print Servers>Server>Drivers, and I can see the 32bit driver I added. But when I right-click on Printers in Print Mgt, and add a printer, I don't find that same 32bit driver. It isn't there. Which I'm guessing is because the list of Windows drivers being shown are only printers that have the 64bit driver installed. How can I add a printer using this 32bit printer driver I just installed?

That's what I've done and I just navigate to the system from network.... \\fileprintserver\Printername - drivers should automatically install and the system will connect to the printer. Confirmation is that you see the Printer Queue Unfortunately there is no printer to publish. The printer in question is a LaserJet 5550. I added the drivers to the 64bit server. But there is no LJ5550 installed. That's my problem. I can see the 5550 drivers under Drivers in Print Management. But can't add a new printer and access that 5550 driver. What gets me is; this is, or SHOULD be, basic stuff; I want to add a printer on a 64bit server. In this case the printer ONLY has 32bit drivers. Which in my mind shouldn't be a show-stopper. But it is. P.S. Yes I could just use the HP Universal Print Driver. And it looks like that's what I will have to do. But, I also have a plotter with the same problem; only 32bit drivers. And I don't think the UPD will work well with a plotter.
