Office 2010 online activation
Hello folks We are running Server 2008 with Win7 clients (workstations and laptops). When a standard user logs onto the machine, they are prompted to activate Office 2010 (the machines have been imaged previously) with the wizard. This fails for standard users but activates for admin accounts. The necessary exceptions have been made in the firewall to allow activation. I understand there may be a missing registry key that will address this. Any suggestions would be welcome. PS...Std users get an error with the title Microsoft Word....."The action requires Administrator privileges. Please contact a system administrator for further assistance"

Hi, Since it is to be more related to Office activation, I recommend you to post in Microsoft Office 2010 Volume Activation forums for a better assistance. As I know, this is by design, for Volume License versions of Office 2010, you need to be an administrator to activate the Office through KMS channel. To activate Office 2010 KMS client, please either log in administrator account to install the key or launch the Office running as administrator, provide the admin credential and password to install the key. Alternatively, if you really want a standard user to activate Office 2010, an administrator can create a key that allows a standard user to apply a MAK key and activate an Office 2010 application. This means that a standard user can switch a KMS client to MAK activation and manually activate the computer. To enable the standard user activation, please set the following registry key. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\OfficeSoftwareProtectionPlatform] Enable Standard User Activation: "UserOperations"=dword:00000001 Disable Standard User Activation: "UserOperations"=dword:00000000 (Office 2010 volume license products default setting) More reference: Deploy volume activation of Office 2010 Troubleshoot volume activation for Office 2010 Best Regards DalePlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
