Number of Copies not shown in Windows Event Printer Logs...

Sir,

We have two network printers in our Network for taking print outs by our domain users.

Printers are,

Laserjet 4515x and Laserjet 9050.

Our Problem is, When the users give multiple copies printout, the log generated by Winevent shows only one copy.

For example:
When an user gives three copies of his 20 page Job
In  Logs it should displays as 60 (ie. 20x3 = 60).  It is Ok.

But our Logs shown  as 20/20 (i.e. 20x1 = 20)

We are using Winodws Server 2008 R2 Server(Domain Controller). What we have to do to solve this issue?

Hi Thavamani Shanmugam,

Thanks for your post. May I know how do you manage the printer audit settings? Via group policy or via a script?

By default, the printer audit can audit the printer behavior such as print, copy, scan and so on. If you'd like to audit the exactly copies and pages you may need to refer to some third party tools or some scripts.

Hereby you could check the print audit and audit policy in the below articles:

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Cc976774.aspx

https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/Cc766468%28v=WS.10%29.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

Also, if you'd like check some script to trace the user printing action, you could refer to the below powershell script:

Hope it hleps.

Hai,

Thanks for your reply. Actually We are in the Academic Institution. We are having more than 6000 Users in our Active Directory.

We are having three Network Printers in our Network the AD Users to take Printouts. So, We have to calculate the Printout Charges for each users who is taking Printouts through these Printers. As of now It has been done by generating Printer Logs using PowerShell Script.

The Event ID 307 reflected the Number of Pages Printed. But It is not showing actual number of Pages Printed when the Users given Multiple Copies. The Event ID 805 Reflects the Number of Copies, But It always shown 1.

But, Our Problem is When a User gives Multiple Copies of a document, The number of copies they given is not reflected in both Printer queue and Printer Logs. As of Now We have manually count the Pages if Multiple copies Presents.

We need to get these Information. Actual Number of Pages Printed and Number of Copies Printed.

We are ready to get this Information through PowerShell. But, We need Correct Information.

Please help us to resolve this issue.

Hi Thavamani Shanmugam,

Thanks for your feedback. I did some searching on this issue, it turns out the office 2003 and office 2007sp2 when try to retrieve the number of copies from a Microsoft Office Word print job,the copy number always return 1.

There's a KB described the issue and the solution is also provided. Would you please check the KB below and have a test if it works for you:
