Non-server remote computer take special consideration different than a server
I have attached a domain to my Windows 7 Pro computer.  I assigned it the Windows 7 IPv4 address from its ipconfig.  It showed up in AD Users and Computers with all its information.  In DNS Manager I assigned the  IPv4 address from Windows 7 in Forward and Reverse Lookups then in Static IP.  In "Server Manager>All Servers>Servers" it shows up but it says "Online - Access Denied" and no IPv4 Addresses show.  I did the same setup for another server and it is online now.  Does a non-server remote computer take special consideration different than a server?

Hello,

to understand you correct.

- Windows 7 got a fixed ipaddress

- Windows 7 machine is joined to the domain without any problem

- there was NO record created automatically in the DNS server forward lookup zone for your domain?

Please provide the domainname from AD UC and DNS Server Forward lookupzone.

Additional post an unedited ipconfig /all from the DC/DNS Serer and your Windows 7 machine.

Are you using a domain user that is included in local "Administrators" group in target win7 host?

I am logged on to an AD UC user in win7 host in the "Administrator" group but that was not the problem in the win7 host "Online - Access denied" in the server in "Server Manager>All Servers>Servers".

I am worried about the "(Duplicate)" after the win7 IPv4 Address above.  How do I change it to "{Preferred)"?
