No results from shared folders

Hi guys,

I've just setted up a new server in a farm with all search services in it. it works fine with Sharepoint content but doesn't show search result from network share.

Content source with network is present and it shows search result in a Crawl log. You can actually search through network share in a crawler log, but not on the sharepoint site.

Any ideas?

SharePoint will only show search results if the logged in user has NTFS rights to the files on it.  If NTFS is set to allow everyone to see it but the file is in a network file share with restricted rights then the user will see the file in their search results.  You may need to make some changes on the file share level.

Hi Anton,

According to your description, my understanding is that no results were displayed when searching the file share.

Did this issue occur with all the file shares? To narrow the issue scope, I recommend to create a new file share to see if the issue still occurs.

I also recommend to do an full crawl and then do an iisreset to see if the issue still occurs.

Here is a similar thread for you to take a look:

Best regards.

Thanks
