No Software Inventory
I've got PCs that have the client installed, apparently made an initial contact with the server as the system's basic information is populated.  However, there is no software inventory shown and these computers have not made contact since the initial install.  I know these PCs are on the network and am at a loss as to why they are not reporting in regularly.  I forced a manual update, but thus far, the PCs in question are not updating their inventory.  Any ideas?

There are a few things you can check to narrow down the problem.  The client OS would be helpful, but you could check the following:

1. If the client has not made contact with the server in more than 60 days, software reports will preclude this set of clients by default.  If you select the option to view software reports more than 60 days, the inventory that was once reported should show up.

If last contacted time is less than 60 days:

2. In the task scheduler, check to see that there are two scheduled tasks from SCOnline.  Both these tasks should be scheduled at regular intervals and have successful execution.  You can see if these tasks successfully executed or ran with errors with this support article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308558

If these scheduled tasks are not there, you could try to manually uninstall and reinstall the client to see if the tasks are re-populated.

3.  If the tasks are there but show error, we would need the client side logs by running the log collector vbs script on the client side to troubleshoot further.

Thanks!
