No Internet Access Windows 2008 Foundation Server
Fired up a brand new Dell server with Windows 2008 Foundation Server installed. Cannot connect to the Internet no matter what. The server cannot connect to the default gateway (Sonicwall). All other machines on the network can connect
to the Internet without issue. All TCP/IP settings are correct and tried with both DHCP assigned settings and manual settings. Can ping the new server from any other machine, can ping the server from the firewall, can connect to the server through
RDP, can ping other machines from the new server and can access shares on other network servers without issue. The machine just will not communicate with the firewall. Even tried a new ethernet cable just for grins. Machine is joined to the
domain. Network connection status shows no Internet connectivity and unidentified network. Just doesn't make sense.

Hi TC95CI,
Thanks for posting here.
Please check the firewall settings first , make sure there is no incoming limitation from internal network , such as mac or IP address filter .
What if server can connect to firewall with network settings that from another host which no problem connect to internet through firewall ?
You might like to use network monitor to capture the network traffic and find out the cause of network connectivity issue.

Thanks for the reply. There is nothing in the firewall that would prevent the server from connecting to it and I did try other settings. It just doesn't make sense. I've been doing networking for quite a few years and have never seen
something like this.

Click on start, click on control panel, double click on windows Firewall, Click on advance tab, Click on ICMP settings, Make sure incoming echo request is selected.Click on start, click on control panel, click on network connections , check the status of
connection, If internet is not connected clickon start, click on control panel, click on network connections, click on create a new connection in Network tasks, click on next, choose to connect to internet, click on use a CD from ISP or select the connection
manually, or chose from a list of ISPS click on next and follow the wizard to set up new internet connection.Click on start, click on control panel, click on network connections, Right click on connection icon and check the status of the connection.I think
you will be able to connect to internet.Beacuse operating system is new I don't think the internet browser internet explorer needs updates, Network card is good, ethernet cable is good as you are able to connect to the network. Make sure there should not be
any loose connections.
