No Consistency between SCOM consoles

Good Afternoon all,

We are running SCOM 2012 SP1 UR9. We seem to be having an issue which I have only noticed today, however this could have been going on for some time. Im not sure what seems to be causing the issue however Im worried that it could be causing something to be wrong with the database being inconsistent. Perhaps not. So below are the issues we seem to be facing. Please also note that I am a Full Administrator for SCOM 2012 SP1 in our domain.

-          1. If another member of my team makes a change within the SCOM console I am unable to view this change where other members of the team are able to see changes made.

-        2.   I have come across an issue where if there is a rule in place and I edit the rule or rename the rule then other members of my team are unable to view the change. This seems to be happening in "Authoring>Web Application Availability Monitoring"

-          3. If I log in to a colleagues laptop and run SCOM I am then able to see any changes made. This appears to be something wrong with my workstation.

-         4.  If I log in to the Management Server then everything is the same as though I was working from my workstation. I dont see any new changes.

-          To further confuse me even more if a colleague logs on to the Management server then they also cannot see any changes. But if they log in on their own workstation, they can see changes made. I hope someone can help me successfully fix this issue as it is worrying me now.

Hi

It isn't necessarily the computer that you are logging in from that is the problem.

When you launch the console, which Management Server are you connecting to? Just because you are on Management Server 1, doesn't mean you will necessarily be connected to Management Server.

I suggest re-running some tests using Tools, Connect and see if there is a specific Management Server that is causing the issue.

Also check for errors concerning the configuration service in the operationsmanager event log on each Management Server.

Cheers

Hi,

I got similar issues before on my console (SCOM 2012 R2) and it was related to my regional settings in FR on my workstation while it was in EN on other workstations. Maybe you can check that point ?

Here is a related blog to this issue :

I hope this helps,

Unfortunately we are in the same Timezone throughout the domain however I will make sure to check this tomorrow.

Please check

1) whether your colleagues and your workstation operatiosn console connect to the same Management Server

2) also relaunch the operations console with /clearcache option

Found another issue today. I have downloaded some Free Management Packs from Veeam and imported them in to SCOM.

I am unable to see the reports that I have imported. However other users can see them.

Not sure what the issue is now. Please help.

1. All users are connecting to the same Management Server.
2. Things got serious and I even ended up completely formatting my computer and re-installing the console to see if it was my laptop. This hasn't fixed the issue.
3. I also created a shotcut to the following and used the /clearcache option

"C:\Program Files\System Center 2012\Operations Manager\Console\Microsoft.EnterpriseManagement.Monitoring.Console.exe" /clearcache

I still cannot understand what seems to be the issue.

Just logged in to a completely different laptop and I can see the changes I have made.

Is it something to do with my workstation?

Also if I navigate to the Report Server in a browser I can see the new reports I've created.

The key question is which Management Server are you connecting to?????? It might be that one Management Server has an issue.

From whichever laptop, management server or desktop machine you care to use have one user try connecting to each management server and see if there is one that has an issue.

http://stefanroth.net/2012/09/28/scom-2012-scom-console-parameters-how-to/

Fire up the console from the cmdline, using the clearcache switch and specify each management server in turn.

Hi Graham,

I have done as you suggested on to two Management Servers. For myself I am seeing the same as I've reported before.

A colleague has also ran the exact same commands on his workstation and he is seeing the updated correct view.

So this is happening on both of our management servers.

If the issue occurs only on your worstation, so it's a problem with your Workstation / Scom Console.

Is the Scom console same version ? (when you rollup update the Scom server, you also have to update the Workstation where SCOM console is installed)

Did you check your regional settings format as I suggested (not the time zone) ?

And compare it with the laptop that is working, and confirm you have the same format ?
