We have a Windows 2008 Web Edition server with a secure web site. I created a new Root certificate and a Server Certificate for this in the Local Computer store. The root in de trusted store and the server cert in the personal store. I deleted the self signed certificate in the personal store. Everything goes fine unitl a reboot. Then the self signed certificate appears again, and my wcf app cant get a unique cert anymore. What is de reason why a reboot recreates this self signed certificate???Many Thanx..Andre

There might be some permissions problem on the certificate.The Root Certificate you were provided with may need its Permissions reset to allow you to use it. Rightclick the cert and take ownership for the user it needs.It also could alsobe that the self-signed certificate is autoenrolled again. Did you ever find the answer to this? I am having the exact same problem on a 2003 server with IIS 6 and cannot find ANYTHING that would be creating the self-signed cert. I delete it, it comes back after a reboot. VERY frustrating and prevents the app from running on the server until I delete it. Basically we need to watch anytime this server is rebooted and delete the self-signed certificate.
