Network is dropping on Windows 2003 server
I have a Windows 2003 member server that has suddenly starting dropping from network, been working in Microsoft networking environment for long time but not seen this before. The NIC is showing as enabled, nothing suspect in event logs, noticed after rebooting the server. The NIC is reachable for around 45secs - 2 mins and then is unreachable. Have disbabled and re-enabled NIC and this has same affect as reboot, reachable for around 45 secs-2 mins then unreachable. From the server cannot ping the DG and from the outside cannot reach. Have installed latest version of Symantec Endpoint and latest pattern files and done scan, nothing detected. Have also installed latest drivers and firmware. We have checked switch and cables etc, everything OK. Have also installed an additional card, disabled original and configured new card, the NIC disappears after reboot and is then not visible from the OS. Anyone heard/experienced anything similar or suggestion to try ? thanks

Thanks all for replies. It ended up being linked to virtual network following virtual server 2005 being installed. It's been installed for some time so not sure why suddently the virtual network (within properties of NIC) was causing problems for the physical NIC. Anyway, we unchecked the virtual network and problem has gone !
