Network icon shows disconnected on Windows Server 2008 R2
I recently upgraded from Windows Server 2008 std. to 2008 R2. I wish I hadn't as I am experiencing several problems that don't seem to be related. One such problem is that the network icon on the notification task bar shows a large red X even though I am connected to the network and internet. Is anyone aware of this problem and how to get rid of it? I have restarted the Network List Service and Network Location Awareness services with no results.

1. Clear all preferred wireless networks from your network configuration. Right click to manage, click wireless on the left, delete everything. 2. Ensure the network manager service is running. A reboot may be required.

It wasn't a wireless connection that I had to delete, and unfortunately I forgot the type but I think it was related to RDP. Anyway, I deleted the extra connection, but I had to reboot before the red x went away. Thanks!
