Network card numbers
Hello, Have you seen this before? Have you any idea why I have the enumration started from #46? I have other servers where this starts corretly from 1. Does anyone know where can I change these values back? I think that this could be resolved quickly in registry, but unfortunately I don't know exactly where. Thanks for your help. Cheers, attikusz

Hi, Thanks for posting here. Have we already installed and remove these devices several times before ? A possible workaround is that we may first remove all information of these Broadcom devices form system with following the article below and reinstall it to see if system will still name it start form high number : How to Find a Lost, Missing, Hidden or Removed Network Card (NIC) or Other Device and Even Remove it http://blogs.technet.com/b/danstolts/archive/2010/09/25/how-to-find-a-lost-missing-hidden-or-removed-network-card-nic-or-other-device-and-even-remove-it.aspx Otherwise we may consider to do further investigation by using DevCon utility: The DevCon command-line utility functions as an alternative to Device Manager http://support.microsoft.com/kb/311272/en-us Windows Driver Kit Version 7.1.0 http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=11800 Thanks. Hello, This plan works fine. I can uninstall the unused network cards. But unfortunately I'm not able to change the numbers. The #46,#47 still remains there.

Hello, The name of the network adapter could be modified via the following registry key: \SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\NetworkCards\<number> Hoping it could help you.
