We are currently have to company locations where location A has about 10 employees and location B has more than 50 employees and a lot of computers used in manufacturing floor and warehouse. In Location B we will be soon running out of IP addresses due to increase in employees and more computers setup, so I would like to make changes to allow more IP addresses. Each location has there own DHCP server and connected via VPN Tunnel…changes in IP address will be made to location B only. Location A: Router: LINKSYS RV08 – 10/100 8-port VPN Router Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 10.28.181.1 DHCP Server: 10.28.181.2 DNS Server: 10.28.181.2 IP addresses assigned to printers and servers are from 10.28.181.2 to 10.28.181.100 Location B: Router: LINKSYS RV16 – 10/100 16-port VPN Router Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 10.29.191.1 DHCP Server: 10.29.181.2 DNS Server: 10.29.181.2 IP addresses assigned to printers and servers are from 10.29.181.2 to 10.29.181.100, and from 10.29.181.101 to 10.29.181.254 are assigned to computers, wireless laptops…etc. Anyone has any suggestions on the best way to change network setup to allow more IP addresses in Location B without have to cause in problems in Location A? Why dont you change the subnet mask to 255.255.252.0 there by increasing IP range. For the same setup if you use 255.255.252.0 mask the range will be like this Network ID: 10.29.188.0 Host Range: 10.29.188.1 - 10.29.191.254(1022 hosts) ( your existing ip address are in same range) Broadcast Address: 10.29.191.255 You need to update subnet mask in all the places where you manually set the IP addresses. Surely the simplest thing to do would be reduce the allocation for servers and printers. Do you really have anywhere near 100 in each site? Bill
