Network Slow
I a m trying to find out why our network is so slow, I have done so simple network and have gotten back some perplexing data. I do a simple ipconfig on my pc WS-MLK-02 get the IP info then do a tracert on a know network target (scn.org). The tests ipconfig shows me being on the correct network (192.168.0. ) but tracert reports me having a different network number (192.168.20. ) We have a simple Windows network with a neat gear fire wall and a cisco dsl modem. Output of test: Windows IP Configuration Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : MLK.local Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::d9fa:61e5:dd96:112%11 IPv4 Address. . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.59 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.0.1 Tracing route to scn.org [66.212.64.194] over a maximum of 30 hops: 1 3 ms 2 ms 2 ms WS-MLK-02 [192.168.20.2] 2 1822 ms 1811 ms 1469 ms 192.168.20.1 Is this a well know reply from a windows network or do I have seriously misconfigured device playing games with my network? Thanks for any help.

Hi Tom, Thanks for update. I notice that this host is obtain IP address from a DHCP server( 192.168.0.200) ,have you set DHCP options for the scope ? And what if manually set static network settings for this host , would this issue still persist ? I also suggest try reset Internet Protocol for this host first: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299357 Meanwhile, please empty DNS settings and try perform tracert command again .
