Need help with windows media service and windows encoder, pleas read!!!
I have two dedicated servers using windows media services and on one computer using windows media encoder pushing to server A. What I'm trying to do is, to be able to switch between servers without changing none of the informations in the encoder. For example, when server A reach it's capacity, I want to be able to switch to server B, without affecting the encoder details. I tried add a server in windows media services, I get the RPC Server is unavailable error. Please help, I've tried almost everything I know.

You could achieve this in two ways: 1) Set them up using NLB or clustering (I belive it's only NLB that's supported) 2) Or write a script that checks available storage space on your servers and when the treshold is reached connects your encoder to the other server. (The changing of target server can probably be scripted too) Here's some information: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/howto/articles/IntroHosting.aspx http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/forpros/server/faq.aspx (Check out the "What's new..." where WMI is mentioned. WMI can be used to connect to your encoder and manage it through scripts for example.)

That's what I wante to do, but was unable to add a server due to the RPC SERVER IS UNAVAILABLE error. I did find a work around.-open a free account with no-ip.com-create a domain name in no-ip.com (YOURDNSNAME.no-ip.org)-use PUSH:YOURDOMAIN.no-ip.org to push from the encoder.-from no-ip.com, you will be able to switch servers via the ip address.

Ok, but you're not going to troubleshoot your original problem with the RPC-server then?
