Need Advice, about Win Server 2008 to Win Server 2008 R2
Hello, Any body can advice me, is it possible to install win server 2008 R2 media kit using Win server 2008 key ? ( (if possible I will download from here the reason is, I have customer need to buy win server 2008 R2, but I only have the old version (R1) wich is still brand new sealed, I am afraid if I open the seal and can't do the activation at R2 than I will bangkrupt :( Or perhaps if I can't using those way, can I do automatic update and the R1 version became R2 version ? If those all can't do, than please advice me how to change my R1 became to R2 version please ..., or might be I should buy the new R2 package ? which mean I still keep the old version to be sold (sad) Please give me advice from my stupid question thanks alot & Gbu Best Rgs, Jong F S

You will have to purchase a full copy of Server 2008 R2 for your customer. Think of the difference like this: Windows Vista -> Windows 7 Server 2008 -> Server 2008 R2 They are completely different OSes.If you found this post helpful, please give it a "Helpful" vote. HI Jong Yes,you can't use 2008 license for 2008 r2. There is upgrade path available but for that also you need to buy license. So it will be double the cost in your case.

Thanks alot guys, any way here is my win 2008 server pakagin detail, if only I got some miracle that my own is R2 version :p becouse me myself is not sure is it R1 or R2. Windows SVR STD 2008 32BIT/X64 ENGLISH Label Part No X10-63162 Internal Part : P73-04001 Build Date : 04/13/09 Any one can tell me is it R1 or R2 ?
