Name Resolution Problems
sorry if this is a repeat question.
In our company, we are currently running multiple OS environment for both the client side and also the infrastructure side
Our Clients primarily consist of Windows XP SP3, however small numbers of Vista and windows 7 are also out there as we are currently in the process of upgrading our old machines to a new pc.
in our infrastructure side the AD DS server is running on W2k8 R2, as well as the DNS Server.
One of the member server is running windows 2003 - also serves as our SQL server for a small CNC Programming database. the server name is (AKITR01)
Our vista computers are not able to ping AKITR01 by the name but we can ping the server through the IP Address.
All other clients are doing fine to ping to the server by host name.
We have set the network properties to the same setting as other computers, is there any other likely solutions.
sorry if this is a simple question as i am still learning the basic networking and naming resolutions services.
