NTttcp errors & retransmit threshold
Hello All, We trying to do some network quality assessment in our organization , for that we choose NTttcp tool that comes from Microsoft , and started to do some test. looking at results of some test we done each test for 1 min approx i can see few erros and retransmit , my question is how to interpret that data what should be consider amount of Errors & Retransmit threshold for amount X time test or should not pear at all?. Please advice Thanks Thread Realtime(s) Throughput(KB/s) Throughput(Mbit/s) Avg Bytes per Completion ====== =========== ================ ================== ======================== 0 3600.553 28964.028 231.712 65535.753 Total Bytes(MEG) Realtime(s) Average Frame Size Total Throughput(Mbit/s) ================ =========== ================== ======================== 104286.519296 3600.553 1333.465 231.712 Total Buffers Throughput(Buffers/s) Pkts(sent/intr) Intr(count/s) Cycles/Byte ============= ===================== =============== ============= =========== 1591286.000 441.956 4 4628.24 90.9 Packets Sent Packets Received Total Retransmits Total Errors Avg. Ideally, you want no restrasmitts or as few as possible. That being said, depending on various factors (distance, media, etc) that may not be possible. Also, your retransmitts are going to be higher with this tests given the high volume of traffic you are generating. I also notice you pushing your CPU at 40% and 15%is exceedingly high for just Network Traffic tests....increasing retransmitts. You retrasmits are acceptableRetransmitts / (Packets Sent + Packets Received) = Percent Retransmitts281 / (39131229+ 78222514) = 3.03e-11 extreemly acceptableUltimately, retransmitts are only a problem if they are significant enought to impact performance.....i don't see that here.

Hi, Thanks for your answer its surly more clarified for me now :-) , is errors could be treated/calculated the same as Retransmits? Thanks
