NTFS permission configuration advice
Hello all, I am trying to determine what others in the industry are doing for managing folder structure with broken inheritance and or modified inherited permissions. I am struggling with the proper way to manage this. One scenario is to created a new folder structure where permissions would have to be different from the parent which would scale out vertically and create a large folder structure. The other is to manage the folder structure in place but this at time leads to someone accidently forcing permissions down. The bigger issue I see is the reporting aspect and the concept of data owners validating the permissions within their hierarchy. Personnally I have been struggling with the expanding of the folder structure since NTFS grants the technical abilitiy for granular security within the folder structure. I am curious to know if more people are using granular security or managing folders on inheritance basis only. Thanks PaulPaul Glickenhaus
