Hi Daniel,
Thanks for posting here.
Have you set DNS suffix on client if you are going to query a single label host name ? Not sure how did you set the DNS service in this environment , could you discuss
that in detail ?
Meanwhile, please refer to the checklists below first in order to make sure the DNS service is running properly on Windows Server 2003 host:

hostname cant find NS:No resppnse from server
REQUEST TIMED OUT
Probable cause for the aforementioned error would be the DNS server's reverse lookup zones do not contain a PTR record for the DNS server's IP address.

You're using the wrong syntax; by entering "ns netadmindan" you are asking nslookup to lookup the A record (IP address) for a host named "ns" by sending the DNS query to another host named "netadmindan"; the correct way to run your query would be
X:\> nslookup
Default Server: ml570g3dc.administration.eriecountygov.org
Address: 192.168.50.45
> set type=NS
> netadmindan
or either, willing to run a straight lookup, you may enter from the command prompt the following command
nslookup -type=NS netadmindan
notice that the both the above queries are asking your configured DNS server to return the NS records for a domain called "netadmindan" and, given the output of the nslookup you posted, such a query doesn't make much sense to me; if possible, please explain
what you want to achieve.
[edit]
Just in case, the "straight" syntax for nslookup is the following
nslookup [-class=<rr_class>] [-type=<rr_type>] <query> [dns_server]
the parameters enclosed in square brackets are optional; if omitted (i.e. running "nslookup query") the nslookup tool will default to class=IN, type=A and will use the default dns_server configured in the system network properties; as an example, willing
to run a query to obtain all the available infos (type=ANY) about the "live.com" domain and using the DNS server at 4.2.2.6 the command will be
nslookup -type=ANY live.com 4.2.2.6

Hi Daniel,
Thanks for update.
We should specify the record type before query it . For instant , should first specify the type by typing “set type=ns” if want to get the detail information
of ns records of one DNS zone from that server:
C:\>Nslookup
>set type=NS
>
netadmindan
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/200525
Thanks.

Oh, not a problem; all in all you just used the *nix syntax, the one used with the "dig" tool (e.g. "dig ns netadmindan" or "dig ns netadmindan @192.168.50.45") :D I've to admit that I usually stick with "dig" even in windows (yes, there's a win32 port)
or use my own query tool, a little critter I wrote years ago :)
Anyhow, happy to know things are working now
All the best
