NIC Teaming
One of my client wants to do NIC teaming on a HP DL 380 G7 server with Win 2008 OS. They have provided me 3 IP addresses. For example 10.0.0.1 - To be assigned to Physical NIC 1 10.0.0.2 - To be assigned to Physical NIC 2 10.0.0.3 - To be assigned to the Teamed Interface (NIC1+NIC2) I wonder why they have assigned 3 IP's i dont understand the concept because i read that if two NIC's are teamed we can't communicate to the 10.0.0.1 and 10.0.0.2 IP's. So i got back to the client and told that 1 IP is enough to do the NIC teaming. But they replied me with different terminology. I dont understand the concept that they have replied. Can any one shed me light on this please?
