NIC Driver Help
I installed Server 2008 on a desktop and now can not configure networking in the Initial Configuration Tasks in order to connect to the internet. It is an older (early 2000's) Compaq, I believe to be a DDR and can not find a proper model number
on the tower.
I can not figure out what drive to install to get my ethernet controller to work properly. I used the program Unknown Device Identifier 7.00 and it could not identify the device.
The hardware Ids of my device are as follows:
pci/ven_8086&103B&SUBSYS_00120E11&REV_81
pci/ven_8086&103B&SUBSYS_00120E11&REV
pci/ven_8086&103B&CC_020000
pci/ven_8086&103B&CC_0200
Any help is appreciated!

Drivers can be tricky for legacy hardware. For Server 2008, try searching for the Vista equivalent (ensuring the correct 32-bit or 64-bit version). Alternatively, try installing 2008 R2 as the native driver support is much improved.

Hello,
in addition to Tony, if you have such old hardware and Windows server 2008 doesn't recognize it i assume the hardware vendor won't even have updates for Windows Vista available.
So i would by a new NIC as they are not that expensive and with new hardware you should be able to use it with Windows server 2008.Best regards Meinolf Weber Disclaimer: This posting is provided "AS IS" with no warranties or guarantees , and confers no rights.
