Multi Server Administration - limits

Hi all,

I wanted to know if there's a limit on how many targets I can manage in Multi Server Administration.

In addition, are there any known limits regarding managing SQL instances with different versions (SQL 2005,2008,2008R2 and 2012).

Thanks,

Roni.

Hi Roni,

As far as I know there is no exact limit to the maximum managed targets you can manage.
It depands on the workload involved.

The Multiserver Administration will check for compatibility between the master and target during installation.

Matthijs

The SQL Server documentation lists what versions you can mix: https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms191305.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396

As for number of targets I blogged a while ago and got a reply from one person having some 170 targets: http://sqlblog.com/blogs/tibor_karaszi/archive/2013/08/11/resynchronizing-a-target-server-msx-tsx.aspx
