Moving a Certificate Authority from 2003 to 2008

Hello,
I am moving my CA from our old s003 Server to a 2008 server. Both servers are DC's. I've read the guides on line and the only thing that throws me off is I need to have the new server the same name as the old one?
If I don't have the same name, will this cause problems? Will it affect the CA Name?
Can someone please let me know about this. I don't want to take any action of moving it until i know if i need to have to change the name of the new server to match the name of the old server.

Thanks,

Hello,
the servername has to be the same, correct.
Also it is NOT recommended to install the CA on a DC, so when upgrading use a domain member server instead.

There is no problem to migrate between 32and 64bit versions

Hi,
Thank you for the post.
If the destination server is Windows 2008, the CA migration support host name change and CA name must stay the same. Please read the Supported migrations table in

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc742466(WS.10).aspx
.

Also there is step by step procedures for this scenario.
Option A: Migrate the CA to a New Host
If there are more inquiries on this issue, please feel free to let us know.
