Move Terminalserver License Server and change License Mode from per Device to per User...Licenses not allocated

Hi

We moved our Terminalserver License Server to a new Machine in the past the License Mode was per Device, on the new Server we installed 75 per User Licenses..

The new License Server is activated we got 3 Terminalserver some User connect via Windows 7 RDP to the TS the most connect via Thinclient, the License Mode on the TS is changed to per User now...

Now we got the Problem that many Users get the Message "No License Server is available" after check the new License Server only 25 per User Licenses are allocated, but we got around 60 active Users on our Terminalservers...

How can we cleanup the Old per Device Licenses are they stored somewhere in the Active Directory User Object?

thx

Harald

Hi Harald,

>>The new License Server is activated we got 3 Terminalserver

3 terminal server means 3 RDSH ?

These users still can not connect to other RDSH ?

yes i mean 3 rdsh we have software loadbalancer the users can connect fine, but some get the message that no remote desktop license server is available, on the new ts license server only 25 user cals are allocated from around 60 users, the clients that have in the past device licenses did not allocate user licenses from the new license server...

looks like the client computers have stored the old device licenses and maybe the old license server stored somewhere? registry?

You have already changed the Licensing Server name on your RDS boxes and given them a bounce? You have deffo changed the licensing mode on the RDSH servers to match that of your RDS CALS?

You shouldnt need to clean up the old TS CALs, machines can have a user and a per device CAL live happily side by side.

A quick cheeky test might be to add a DNS CNAME in for your old Licensing server pointing to the new, make sure you set it with a nice low TTL...

Have you checked the Service Connection Point (SCP) record?
