Hi there,

Data transfers within a data center is free of charges (apart from transaction costs incurred when using specific services like storage). Data coming in to Azure data centers (inbound) is also free of charge. Only data leaving data centers (outbound) is charged

Note that multi region deployments can cause data to be exchanged between Azure regions (DC's) and the data leaving any of these DC in direction of another DC will be charged.

Hi Ajit,

Its very straight forward.

Outbound data is charged based on the total amount of data moving out of the Windows Azure datacentres via the Internet in a given billing cycle. Data transfers between Windows Azure services located within the same datacentre are not subject to any charge. The first 5 GB of outbound data transfers per billing month are also free.

Folks,Know your Outbound Data Transfer Costs Windows Azure

Hi Ajit,

Azure  in the same region will not have any additional data transfer costs. While Yes. Outbound data transfer is charged at the normal rate and inbound data transfer is free.
