Missing reference to Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Storage and ..Configuration

Hello,

I'm working on one of the MS WebWorker and WebRole labs.  The example project calls for adding references to Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Storage, Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Configuration, and an Azure flavor of Microsoft.Data.Services.Client.  I couldn't find these references, so I checked some things and then downloaded the Azure SDK, version 2.6.  Even after installing the SDK, the references were not appearing.

How do I get these items, or are there newer versions of these things in the newer SDK?

Thanks,

Mike Goldweber

Hi halciber2,

To install  Microsoft Windows Azure Storage and Windows Azure Configuration, run the command in the Package manager console:

PM>Install-Package WindowsAzure.Storage   -Version 4.3.0

PM>Install-Package Microsoft.WindowsAzure.ConfigurationManager

Hello Asha99,

First, thank you for your help, I really appreciate it. At first I didn't notice the references automatically appeared in the Solution Explorer, so I thought I did something wrong when I couldn't see the items in the Reference Manager dialog box.

So, now my project is happy, and I am able to continue with the lab; but I'm wondering about using this reference in the future.  Is there a newer version of those particular references that should be used in future projects?

Thank you again for your help.

Sincerely,

Mike

Hi Asha,

Sure, I'll have to upgrade whenever it becomes available.  But this doesn't answer my question.  The original solution you provided me essentially called for me to install things from an older version of the SDK.  These things aren't in version 2.5 or 2.6 of the SDK.  So, given that they are no longer part of the SDK, what parts now replace WindowsAzure.Storage and WindowsAzure.Configuration?

In other words, if the lab authors were to write their lab with version 2.6 of the SDK, what would they call in place of WindowsAzure.Storage and WindowsAzure.Configuration?

Thank you,

Halciber

Hi,

Thank you for letting us know that your project is working.
I will be marking your reply as answer so that it can be helpful to other Community members with the same issue.
Regarding the Client libraries missing with the SDK, I will post a reply on this after checking the same with the concerned teams. However, Using Package manager to install the files is also a recommended approach to get the updated libraries.
