Migrating Printers
Migrating about 120 printers from 2 servers to 1. Source servers are 2003 R2 32-bit. The destination server is 2008 R2. All are VM's. Will use existing drivers and, add Windows 7 drivers before the migration. I'm following this TechNet article: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd379527%28WS.10%29.aspx What exactly are they saying in this paragraph: As a best practice, you need to install a driver with the same name as the native architecture. To add the x86-based driver to the x64-based destination server, use the x86-based client to remotely open the x64-based server using Windows Explorer and navigate to the remote printer folder and add the driver. To install an x64-based driver on the x86-based source server, use the x64-based client to remotely open the x86-based server using Windows Explorer and navigate to the remote printer folder and add the driver. When it comes time to install Win7 drivers, I just want the driver, and not any utilities, etc. How can I do that and, what are they talking about regarding the folders? Sounds like it's saying to copy the drivers to the print drivers folders under \windows\system32\spool\drivers I'm not clear on how to get just the driver and, the method the article is describing.
