Enable print driver isolation through policy before performing the restore.

After installing the Print Server Role on 2012, launch printmanagement.msc .  Add the 2003 print server to the list of servers.

Follow the guidelines in the Print Server Migration TechNet articles to backup the 2003 print data, then restore to the new machine.

I know this is an older topic, but I'm migrating from a 2003 print server to 2012.  The article on print driver isolation is vague on it's explanation.  I've read that print driver isolation is enabled by default on server 2012.  So there is no need to enable in any policies?

I just migrated my print server. I just enabled the isolation on the individual drivers after the migration was complete on the destination server. Seems to be working just fine. From printmgmt right click on each driver and set the isolation from there.
