Microsoft Server 2003 needs to be upgraded to Microsoft Server 2008 or 2012

can someone answer this question

Microsoft Server 2003 needs to be upgraded to Microsoft Server 2008 or 2012

through virtual Server hosting environment. Also, assume that one of the servers has

the main website of your company and the other server has all the Databases. The

website has many applications, which are connected to the databases, which requires

clients or administrators to login and put in requests to check-in and check-out products

from the company. What are the steps that you will take such that, there is no data loss

and the upgradation process is successful. (Note that it is not an ordinary upgradation.

It requires SQL backup of all the Databases.)

The only sure fire method would be to stand up the new guest OS virtual machines, install the roles / applications, and finally migrate the web services over.

I'd ask more about the web services migration over here.

They can help you over here with the database engine installation / backup / restore.
