Microsoft Licensing - CALs question.
A customer has: - 1 x Win2K3 SBS (Incl 5 CLT) - 1 x Win2K3 STD x64 (Incl 5 CLT) - 1 x Win2K3 STD x86 (Incl 5 CLT) - 8 x Macintosh Workstations 8 x 5 Windows Server 2K3 STD/ENT/DATA USER CLT (Total 40) The following changes are being made:
The SBS Server is being replaced with another Windows Server 2K3 STD (Incl 5 CLT) with Exchange STD 2007 (Incl 5 Exch CLT)
The situation will be:
The client has ~70 employees, but only ~30 are logged on to the x64 server at any one time, most using Outlook in their session connected to the Exchange server
The x64 server has all the file shares
The x86 server will only have 2-3 users connected at any one time via Terminal Services (Also using Outlook via the Exchange server)
The Exchange server will not have any users directly accessing it, only it's Exchange service.
The 8 Macintosh workstations use IMAP with the Exchange server
Can some explain the best use of their existing Licenses? Do we need more Exchange 2007 Client Licenses since ~30 people will have Outlook open? - Or can we make them Device licenses since 10 devices will be accessing it (The x64, x86 server and 8 Macs) Do we need 30 Microsoft Office licenses for the 30 users in TS sessions using Outlook etc...?

Hi, I have problem with deciding how many user CALs I needed. I have some knowledge with licensing, but my manager demand strong confirmation about how many CALs we need to buy.
I have 60 user (computers) and 2 servers. First one is domain controller and the other one is database and file server. Do I need 2x60=120 user CALs for both servers or I need only 60?
Thanks in advanced.

You should only need 60. See
A Guide to Assessing Windows Server Licensing

If you have questions, I would recommend confirming with Microsoft,
use the "Contact a Specialist" link on the right side of this page,
