Microsoft ISCSI Software Target on Windows NO Storage
Hi to all, I’m running Windows Server 2008 R2 ENT on a virtual environment for testing purpose. I need to simulate an ISCSI SAN by using software Microsoft. I have download Microsoft ISCSI Software Target, but when I run the setup it stop with this error: Operative system non supported. Is it possible create a target by Microsoft ISCSI Software on Windows Server 2008 ENT (without Storage Server) as StarWind normally do? TK to ALL

You need a third party software such as StarWind or the cheaper WinTarget
Free Windows Admin Tool Kit Click here and download it now

Do you mean that you need to run a specific Microsoft branded iSCSI target like storage server 2008, or just address it from within windows using the included initiator? If you're not tied to what brand of target you use, you could just use a virtual machine running openfiler and point your initiator at it - that might take a little prep work, but hey, it's cheap.
