Memory usage issue
Hi I have a Windows 2008 R2 server that is using all (more or less) its memory, it has 12GB installed and is using 11,8-11,9GB, according to the Task manager. It is a virtual server and it has 4 processors (Intel Xeon X5570 @ 2,93GHz) assigned to it. On this server I have WSUS (using Windows internal database) servicing 173 clients, F-secure Policy Manager 9.00 servicing 173 clients, MailEnable used very rarely. When the server is rebooted, the memory usage goes down to something like 2,5GB and the slowly rises so that it is peaked after a day or two. I really need some help in troubleshooting this, so that I can figure out if there is a problem or if the server simply needs more memory.

Here is the Task manager Top 5, the thing is, when looking at this, the memory usage is not so high: w3wp.exe 144 652K fssm32.exe*32 76 708K sqlserv.exe 60 888K java.exe*32 51852K mmc.exe 23536K I will have a look at WSRM tomorrow.

Do you have a max memory setting for your SQL server?

I have just set the Max memory to 1GB, I had some problems connecting to the internal database but that is done, I will also reboot the server tonight when I have a service window. I will let you know the results.

Sorry, I have been away for a while but it seems that the memory usage has stopped at 6-7GB now, after that I set Max memory so I am content for the moment :) Hopefully it will stay this way, I will update if changes. Thanks for all your help.
