Memory cannot be read after installing KB982524
Has anyone figured out why a "memory cannot be read issue" happends after installing this rolled-up/cluster .Net patch when exiting an application? I'm guessing that it is being used by another process. If so, are there plans to roll out a fix for this fix? If not, other than uninstalling it (KB976576 is the issue), is there a workaround? Specs: OS: Windows Server 2003 sp2 but have seen this issue on XP and Vista (all 32 bit) Anti-virus: AVG 8.5...NOTE: Some customers are using this and other are using either Norton and McAfee. NOTE: When removing this patch, all apps work as expected.

Hi, Does the issue appears after installing KB982524 or KB976576? Does the issue disappears after uninstalling KB982524 or KB976576? What’s the detailed symptom of the issue? Any error message? As has always been my suggestion/recommendation with regard to .NET Framework updates: Did you disable the AntiVirus before installing the update? Are you installing the update to an IDLE machine? Is there a user logged onto the machine while you attempted the installation? Were you installing this update by itself, or in a bundle with other updates? Are there older .NET Framework updates that are not yet installed? I treat ALL .NET Framework updates as exclusive updates, I only deploy to IDLE machines (preferably with no user logged on), with no AV software enabled, and I deploy them in the chronological order of their release, and I rarely have issues with .NET Framework updates. Prior to implementing those practices, I had just as many install failures as everybody else. Try installing the update, by itself, as a scheduled installation with no user logged on and no other updates, with AV software disabled, after installing all older .NET Framework updates, and see if the issue persists.
