Memory Limit and performance
Hello! I have a win2008 server running sql server 2008 express and IIS 7. The server has 1GB of memory and is 32 bits Well, some times I see that the memory go near to limit and then it go down as you can see in the capute http://cid-35aab99202c8b403.office.live.com/self.aspx/P%c3%bablica/Memory.JPG The server response well and performance is good, but, do I need more memory? Is this normal? Please advise me... Thanks and sorry for my english :)

for sql express, you can take a look at page life expectancy (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms189628.aspx) via perfmon and see if this value is low (which hints at memory preasure). you might want to limit sql servers max ram (properties of the server) so the rest like iis has a chance to allocate some memory too. depending on how many people use the server, you might be fine, sql server tends to grab ram when its available, so to see the gig used is expected.

Hi Hugo13246578, Thanks for posting here. Have you also got any memory or performance alert or error form event log so far ? Thanks. Hello and thanks for all replies. I have no erros and no warnings in event viewer so far. I have about 10, maybe 20 users in my 4 sites at same time. In sql server I have about 10 databases and the server performance is very well. But I ask me if this memory scenario in task manager is normal and are the risks... If there are any risks, please tell me. Thanks :)

Hi Hugo13246578, Thanks for update. Actually we should first monitor the memory performance so that we can determine the proper memory usage requirement in this scenario , FZB has just putted the right way on how to do that : Monitoring Memory Usage http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms176018.aspx Meanwhile, you can also evaluate the memory usage status of this server by using Windows Performance Analysis Tools ,it will help you to decide if need more memory to support the service on this server: Windows Performance Analysis Tools http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/performance/cc825801 Thanks.
