Quick question, Should we be installing the SCOM Agent on to our Management Servers. We currently have three management servers in our environment that aren't being managed. Should we be installing the agent?
NO. You should not install SCOM agents on the Management Servers.
If you monitor them from another SCOM group, you can do so with Agentless Monitoring.

ans:
By default, SCOM will automatic install agent when you install SCOM managment server role. As a result, you can see your managment server health state is either healthy, warning or critical on Administration workspace --> Device Management --> Management Servers

Hi
Installation of management server or GW will install MS agent on the server, you no need to install agent on the server again.
if you have multiple management group in you environment never installation of one management group agent on other management group management server this will crash management server.
Management server and Gateway server has agent install by default while installation and this servers can note be dual homed and you can only use agent less monitoring to monitor from different MG.
management server agent is different from client agent in roles and responsibility
regards
