I want to use makecert tool to create self signed certificate on windows 2008 server R2. I came to know that it is present in Microsoft .NET Framework SDK and Microsoft Windows SDK, and is not available as a standalone utility. Which role or feature on the server that is needed to be installed for Microsoft .NET Framework or Microsoft Windows SDK.

But I can not find makecert on it. Are .Net Framework and .NET Framework SDK are same thing.? Ankur

Hi Imtiyaz, That SDK is 1.3 GB. I feel it is not good to install this bulk just for using a single utility makecert. Is makecert not available as individual utility ? Ankur
