Macro Enabled PowerPivot Data Model

Hi All,

When we deploy any PowerPivot Data Model to SharePoint 2013, we get the following options-

1. Create New PowerPivot Report

2. Create New PowerView Report

3. Schedule Data Refresh

These options work fine as long as we deploy a normal Excel Data Model file like .xlsx

However, When I deploy Data Model with some VBA code (Macros, VB functions) contained within it i.e. Macro Enabled file - .xlsm, the above options didn't work. I got following error while creating a New PowerView report as

It says that your Excel has unsupported features like Macro function.

Can't we create a new PowerPivot/PowerView report with Macro Enabled Data Model? Is this not supported in SharePoint 2013?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Rameshwar

Hi Rameshwar,

According to your description, you need to create a Power View report based on a Power Pivot workbook which had Macro Enabled as the data source, right?

Based on my research, the Power Pivot workbook which had Macro Enabled is not supported by Power View report in SharePoint site, as you can see on the error message. If you have any concern about this behavior, you can submit a feedback at http://connect.microsoft.com/SQLServer/Feedback and hope it is resolved in the next release of service pack or product. Your feedback enables Microsoft to make software and services the best that they can be, Microsoft might consider to add this feature in the following release after official confirmation.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi Charlie,

Thanks for your quick suggestion.

I have been submitting the feedback to Microsoft regarding such enhancements requests since last year. Still there have been no progress on such items.

Following are few of them -

Offline Cube is not supported with PowerView & PowerView On Sharepoint

Tooltip is not visible on Sharepoint Excel web access

Let's see, if we can get any update on Macro Enabled Data Model.
