Macintosh 10.5 Security on Windows Server Network
The challenges of doing an entire platform conversion can be enormous it seems. In a district that is converting from mostly Mac's to Windows PC's there are two labs that are to remian Mac for budgetary reasons at least for the short term (1 year or so). They are 10.5 and 10.4 labs. The 10.4 labs do not concern me as that lab is used infrequently and is under tight supervision. What does concern me is the 10.5 lab. When I converted those labs from Open Directory to Active Directory I was under the assumption that unless a user authenticated to a machine they would not have full access to system preferences on the computer, but it seems that they do. What can I check for or do to these 10.5 Mac's, so that my users log on to them they don't have willy-nilly access to everything? Thanks,Dan

Hi Dan, I understand that you would like to know how to secure and control the user access on Mac computers which bind to Active Directory. This is mostly related Mac configuration. I have to say that we do not have much experience on this and we are not the best resource for this issue. I suggest that you post this question to the Apple support newsgroup for detailed information. http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=235 I hope your issue can be resolved soon.
